Data Visualization – flexible contract work

Position Description


Our multidisciplinary team is exploring the epidemiology of mental disorders. We are based at Aarhus University and the University of Queensland. We would like to work with talented people to help design interactive data visualization webpages. You can see examples of our research, and examples of our webpages here www.nbepi.com.

We have 2-3 projects that need data viz webpages. They will build on template established by our colleague Yan Holtz (@R_Graph_Gallery).


Responsibilities


  • Developing data visualizations using survey our epidemiology results that enable story-telling and exploration
  • Data preparation and processing
  • Gathering detailed requirements from our researchers
  • Implementing webpage development and implementation

Mandatory


  • Proficiency in JavaScript and data visualization libraries such as javascript/d3.js.
  • Experience in constructing both static and interactive data visualizations
  • Detail-oriented and ability to work independently on a variety of tasks
  • Ability to synthesize insights from visualizations (“Story-telling”)

Desired


  • Experience working with health researchers
  • Understanding of health and epidemiology related
  • Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics or similar
